New Investment Means UK First for Nampak Healthcare
17/02/2010
Nampak Healthcare in Bradford, which prints cartons and patient information leaflets for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, has recently invested £1 million in state-of-the-art equipment, including scanning technology - the first of its kind in the UK.
The Print Quality Assurance Sheetfed (PQAS) system from Komori allows real-time quality monitoring through an inspection camera as cartons are being printed. This provides customers with 100% quality control of their products.
This latest investment is being used on the company’s new Komori S40 press which was installed last year.
Since it joined the Nampak Group in 2008, Storey Evans (now re-named Nampak Healthcare), has seen its turnover rise from £14 million to £19 million, with the creation of 30 new jobs.
Gerard Harford, Nampak Healthcare Regional Director UK, said: “Becoming part of the global Nampak Group has brought the business a number of significant benefits. Not only have we acquired extra business and created 30 new jobs, but it has also enabled investment in state-of-the-art technology, putting us at the very forefront of our marketplace.
“Our latest investment - the PQAS - is a further illustration of our commitment to first class customer service and delivering the highest quality products.”
Steve Turner General Sales Manager – Sheetfed Products for Komori UK added: “Nampak Healthcare is a dynamic business operating in a sector which demands consistent top quality and service. It is a pre-requisite that pharmaceutical packaging is in perfect condition at the point of sale and the installation of the PQAS system on the latest Komori Lithrone S40 press enables every carton to be automatically inspected in-line, even when the press is running at full speed.”
Nampak Healthcare’s Bradford site is now the largest in the company’s Healthcare Division employing 210 people.
Nampak Healthcare is backed by the considerable resources and financial stability of the global Nampak Group which manufactures the most diverse range of packaging products in the world. The Group, which operates in 17 countries in Africa and Europe, employs 20,000 staff, exports to over 60 countries worldwide and has an annual turnover of £1 billion.
