Multi-million pound investment revealed to develop Ireland’s largest dairy in-plant

Leading plastic milk bottle manufacturer, Nampak Plastics, has entered into a long-term partnership with Dale Farm, Northern Ireland’s largest dairy processing business, to develop Ireland’s biggest dairy bottle in-plant.

The new in-plant, where bottles are taken straight ‘through the wall’ from the manufacturing process to the filling line, is scheduled to be operational early in summer 2010.

Every Nampak milk bottle is a recycled plastic bottle!

Nampak Plastics is set to reach another major milestone in 2010 when every HDPE milk bottle it produces will include up to 10% recycled HDPE (rHDPE).  The company produces approximately two billion milk bottles every year meaning that approximately 7,000 tonnes of virgin material will be saved annually as a direct result of this achievement.

HDPE milk bottle recycling rate passes the 50% mark

According to the latest figures from Recoup1, approximately 57% of HDPE milk bottles consumed and collected in the UK during 2008 were recycled - an increase of 9% on the previous year’s figures.
